Terrifying
Sorry, just a text only :( I also don't post often, so you guys probably don't recognize the name either!
So, I'm applying to college once again soon (as a transfer student, this time) and I'm going for an art major! I'm very excited. But it's starting to get to the scary part. I have to submit a portfolio. I also requested a sketchbook, which they say helps them get to know you better beyond your portfolio.
I have never done a portfolio. I'm so scared that my stuff isn't going to be what they are looking for or that it's not "good enough". I do photography, and I love it. I have about 6 photos that I have shot that are really gorgeous (ie: good quality, took TONS of time, did it in a class, etc). I feel like art is so subjective and that what one person likes is what one person hates. I really really really want to get in. I have no idea what I would major in besides art. I don't have a lot of art experience, like in drawing and painting, but I really would love to get into it all.
I guess this is just a rant, and a little bit of me wanting encouragement! I'm excited about the sketchbook- I hope to do it mixed-media and very journal like. Maybe I can put all my feelings about this whole process in it.
If anyone is an art major, and to get in it included a portfolio, I would love to talk to you!

Newish here...lurked for long while. I'm a single 27 year old living in a 1940s 1 bedroom apartment and just love vintage. I would also love to visit Japan someday. So Japan resides in the bedroom for the most part as to not overwhelm the rest of the apartment - I try to limit the pieces as well. I'm also very neat as you can see...it really does look like this most days (sad I know, organizing is an addiction to me).

Hi! Once upon a time, I posted the dorm room I lived in last year in here, but most of the links have expired by now, and it was forever ago anyway. Maybe some of you will remember the giant cupcake, though? Anyway, I used to go to the University of Colorado, Boulder, but have since moved back home into my parents' house. I'm an American Studies and English major at the University of Maryland and this is my room:

( It's a white-walled dorm room, but don't call it boring! )
The pictures are a bit dark, the sun was going down as I was taking them.
Yes, it's a single.. sort of? My roommate moved out after Fall Break to go live with her boyfriend and I've been fortunate enough to not have any crazies move in.

Oh why hello there.
Lurker, first time poster. Still living with parents (hope to be off to college next fall) so things are a bit crammed every which way, but oh, I try. I apologize for the graininess of some these photos... The camera doesn't take the best pictures without the flash, and I wanted to preserve the ambient lighting for some of them.

Hello again. I made a post a few months ago, and I would love a bit more advice.
I've gone through many of my pictures and have picked about 90 of my favorite shots. I'd like to print several and put them up in my room... and after narrowing them down, I need to pick frames. So, question: what kind of frames would be best? Thick, thin, clip frames? What color? I'm still looking to break up the blue and green (without painting - it ain't happening).
Updates since last time: I've gotten white curtains to replace the blue ones. I removed a lot of books from the shelf and reorganized it, and stored almost all of the bookshelf knick-knacks visible in those pics.
I'm also in the midst of helping redecorate a room in my house that's to be a den. Can I talk about that here, or are there other communities a bit better aimed at other-room decorating advice? :)

drag and menswear

cross dressers of 1910

i'm kind of known as the woman who wears dresses, but as of late i've been very interested in menswear and drag. i've performed in drag a few times, and find it incredibly empowering and fascinating. i really enjoy fashion as a space to challenge identities and stereotypes, to play with perceived gender norms, and sexualities, and i feel like drag is a great space for that. i guess this post is more focused on how menswear has really become normalized for women in the last 60 years or so, rather than on drag kings themselves, but i thought i'd share some photos with you guys.
( you draw on your moustache while i powder my nose! )
post your favourite pictures of drag, or menswear on ladies, or ladieswear on men!
